Well my dear a MARC record is the world wide computer standard format for creating online public access catalogue records. It is a form for ensuring that all of the fields that you see displayed for a book (or any other format in a catalogue) are properly displayed. So the fields are what divides up the program and then the words are what you see in the correct placement.
